Intramedullary

The place name intramedullary (from Latin medulla , the marrow) describes the position in the medullary canal of an organ in medical terminology .

This can refer to the bone marrow (medulla ossium ), the spinal cord (medulla spinalis or medulla oblongata ), or the kidney marrow (medulla renalis ).

The position outside the marrow is called extramedullary .
