Invicta (watch brand)
Invicta (Latin for 'invincible') is an American watch manufacturer based in Hollywood, Florida .
Invicta was founded in 1837 by Raphael Picard in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland under the name R. Picard . Around 1890 the company was renamed Fils de R. Picard . In 1913 a cooperation with Seeland Watch Co. was entered into. The Picard family held the trademark rights until 1970. In the 1970s, operations were stopped due to the quartz crisis . In 1991 the brand was taken over by a US investment company and operates together with the sister brands I By Invicta and Activa as the Invicta Watch Group . The group's president is Eyal Lalo, son of a third generation watchmaker family.
Today the Invicta brands offer a range of different watches, including the Professional Diver, a model with stylistic elements of the Seamaster from Omega , the Super Ocean from Breitling and the Submariner from Rolex . Invicta does not use its own development for the automatic movements, but, like various other manufacturers in the Invicta price category, relies on the caliber NH35A from the manufacturer Seiko , which is mass-produced in Japan and Malaysia .
In 2015 the Invicta Watch Group acquired the Technomarine brand .
