Ioan Mavrocordat

Ioan Mavrocordat was Prince of Moldova from June 29, 1743 to May 1747.

Ioan Mavrocordat was a son of Prince Nicolae Mavrocordat and brother of Prince Constantin Mavrocordat . He differed from these fundamentally in his passion for costly parties. Due to many unnecessary expenses, the prince had to keep increasing the tax burden, so that ultimately many boyars went into exile in Poland. After being deposed by the Sublime Porte , he spent his old age in Istanbul .
