Iomega Ditto Streamer (400 MB)

The Iomega Ditto is a tape drive made by Iomega for the purpose of backing up computer data .

It was produced by Iomega from 1995. It is equipped with QIC and Travan magnetic tape cassettes and has a net capacity of 400 MB with Travan media and 80 to 120 MB with QIC tapes. The newer version 'Ditto Max' uses both Travan belts and the longer Ditto Max belts with increased capacity. The external drive is connected via the parallel port and the internal drive via the floppy connection or a special controller card sold by Iomega, which, in contrast to the floppy connection, promises a higher data transfer rate. The high-end product from the Ditto series is the 'Ditto Max Professional' drive, which can also use tapes with a storage capacity of up to 10 GB. The Ditto is no longer practical for the data volumes that are common on PCs today.

Before the introduction of inexpensive BLDC motors, hobbyists in the field of model aircraft liked to use the converted drive motor as a drive for the propeller .
