Isagoras, who lived in 508/507 BC BC held the office of archon , wanted to dissolve the council in Athens and transfer the government offices to three hundred members of the nobility. After three days, an agreement was reached that they had to leave the city.

Cleomenes tried again in vain to reinstate Isagoras in Athens. The Athenians sentenced Isagoras to death in absentia.
