Isaiah the Serb
Isaiah the Serb ( Serbian Исаија Србин / Isaija Srbin; *?; †?) Was a monk who lived in the 15th century in the Serbian Orthodox Matejče Monastery , about 15 km from Kumanovo in present-day Macedonialies, lived. As a scribe, he composed Byzantine hymns in Church Slavonic, Old Serbian and Greek. Some works were also bilingual. His talent for dealing with the different languages very well promoted his career as a composer within the Serbian Orthodox Church. He also knew how to incorporate his own variations and elements into his compositions without deviating from the strictly traditional principle of the Byzantine composition of hymns.
His works include u. a. Hodite svi zemljorodni , Alliluja , Vaskliknete bogovi , Krstu tvoemu , Sveti Boze .
Pavle Aksentijević performs several hymns of Isaiah in various albums.
