Christoph Hammer (born June 12, 1966 in Ensdorf ) is a German conductor , fortepiano player , musicologist and specialist in historical performance practice .

Christoph Hammer graduated from the Max-Reger-Gymnasium in Amberg in 1985 . He then studied German and musicology at the University of Munich and the University of California in Los Angeles on a scholarship from the Maximilianeum Foundation and the German National Academic Foundation .
