The recording of the unknown sonatas KV 55–60 by Mozart and the sonatas by Johann Georg Pisendel have won several international record awards.

He is married to Marieke Spaans , who also teaches at the Trossingen University of Music. With her and other musicians, he founded the Ensemble Antonianum in 2009 .

Anton Steck plays a Jakob Stainer from 1658 and an Alessandro Gagliano from 1701.
