The Ischl Basin is an inner-alpine basin in Upper Austria .

Numerous sedimentary rocks testify to shallow sea lagoons, where limestone was deposited or where salt was precipitated. Millions of years later, the cold ages reshaped the Ischler Basin with ice sheets more than 1000 meters thick.
