Isotope method

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The isotope method is an indirect method of determining the density of solids. It is used for material tests in industry , especially for wood-based materials. The measuring principle is based on the law of absorption . The test specimen is irradiated with weak gamma radiation , e.g. B. from an americium source. The radiation arriving on the other side is measured as pulses per second by means of a scintillator and is related to the radiation intensity measured in the same way in the sample-free measuring path.
