Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici

The Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici (IISG) is an Italian non-university research institute for German studies based in Rome . It was founded in 1932 on the initiative of Giovanni Gentile and is located in the Villa Sciarra-Wurts on the Gianicolo , one of the hills of Rome.

The institute is particularly dedicated to the cultural and scientific exchange between Germany and Italy. For this purpose, conferences, readings and book presentations are organized. The institute issues various publications, including a directory of professors in German language and literature at Italian universities, conference proceedings and series of publications as well as a multilingual journal under the title Studi Germanici (since 1935 and since 1963).
