Iudex ad quem

Iudex ad quem ( Latin ) is a term used in Roman law . It designates the assignment, namely to the “ judge to whom it goes” or “the judge who has to decide on the legal remedy” (compare also devolutive effect ). The term is mostly used in connection with proceedings under civil, criminal and administrative law.

The opposite term is iudex a quo . Here comes a decision from a judge which one should be reviewed.
