Józef Pińkowski

Józef Pińkowski (born April 17, 1929 in Siedlce , † November 8, 2000 in Warsaw ) was a Polish politician and Prime Minister (1980/1981).

By profession an economist , he was since 1971 member of the Central Committee of the PZPR . From 1971 to 1974 he was First Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission at the Council of Ministers. From August 1980 to February 1981 he was the largely unsuccessful Prime Minister of Poland under party leader Stanisław Kania in the early days of the Solidarność movement .
