Jörg Scherz (* 1963 or 1964 ) is a German basketball coach .

career

Scherz was a basketball player at Osnabrücker SC and from 1980 also worked as a coach at OSC. In 1986, at the age of 22, he led Osnabrück's female C-youth to win the German championship, two years later the club's female B-youth won the German championship title.

In 1989 the women of Osnabrücker SC rose under Scherz's direction as head coach in the 2nd Bundesliga and in 1992 in the 1st Bundesliga, in 1998 he led the OSC women to the German runner-up.

Between 1998 and 2007 Scherz, who was a full-time teacher of German and history, did not work as a basketball coach before he was back in charge of teams at Osnabrücker SC. In 2014 he led the female U17s of the OSC to the German championship title. Due to differences of opinion with the board of directors of Osnabrücker SC and decision-makers of the Osnabrück second division women's team, Scherz left the club after winning the championship, founded the basketball club (BBC) Osnabrück together with 13 other people and became its chairman. In the spring of 2018, the BBC's female U14 jokingly won the German championship as a coach.
