Entrance to the cemetery

The Jewish cemetery in Guttentag ( Polish Dobrodzień ), a Polish district town in the Brzeski powiat of the Opole Voivodeship , was probably built in the middle of the 18th century. The Jewish cemetery on the road to Lublinitz has been a protected cultural monument since 1988.

history

The Jewish cemetery, which had fallen into disrepair over decades, was restored to a well-tended condition from 2001 by an international initiative with young people from Poland, Germany and Israel. The overgrown area was cleared of vegetation and the gravestones ( Mazevot ) were erected again. Around 200 stones or tombstone fragments are still there today, the oldest dating from 1773.
