Jürgen Boeckh

Jürgen Boeckh (born October 3, 1934 ) is a German zoologist and neurobiologist.

Boeckh received his doctorate in 1962 from the University of Munich and completed his habilitation in 1967 at the University of Frankfurt am Main. In 1969 he became a full professor in Regensburg.

Boeckh is concerned with the odor perception system of insects. With PG Distler he was able to elucidate the synaptic interconnection between receptor cells and the projection neurons in the olfactory center of cockroaches around 1996. His research also has applications, for example on repellants for mosquitoes.

In 1981/82 he was President of the German Zoological Society .
