JET & PROP ( "Aircraft from yesterday and today in the original and in the model" ) is a magazine by VDM Heinz Nickel on aviation and aviation history, which appears six times a year. The publisher is Heinz Nickel, editor-in-chief Matthias Becker. The first edition appeared in spring 1991.

history

JET & PROP was published in 1991 by Heinz Birkholz (editor-in-chief) and Heinz Nickel (publisher) as a magazine for aviation history and aircraft model making. Heinz Birkholz had already worked as a journalist in the aviation sector for 25 years. The JET & PROP magazine developed into the flagship of the VDM Heinz Nickel publishing house. After 10 years, Peter Cronauer took over the editor-in-chief from Heinz Birkholz in 2001. He continued the concept of Heinz Birkholz (1922–2016), with a focus on German aviation history with all its light and dark sides . In the summer of 2005, Matthias Becker, who had already been known to readers from the model making scene for 13 years, became editor-in-chief of the magazine.

Between 2002 and 2006, 13 JET & PROP extra editions were published, and 13 JET & PROP photo archive volumes were also published. The photo archive , a special section with historical photos, has been a regular part of the magazine since issue 4/2008 .
