Jean-Marie Bruneau founded the company in France in 1955. JM Bruneau France quickly became number 1 in the mail order business for office supplies in France and started its international expansion. JM Bruneau has been part of the 3 Suisses International group since 1997 (in which Otto-Versand has a 50% stake).
On September 19, 2012, JM Bruneau gave up the Germany division with immediate effect.
