Jabber University Network
The Jabber University Network , or JUNe for short , is a loose association of universities on the initiative of RWTH Aachen University . All members operate their own Jabber server. The primary goal of the network is to show how widespread Jabber already is and to motivate students from other universities to also operate their own Jabber server. 19 universities and technical colleges are currently participating in this network.
The JUNe has a wiki , which explains the basic functions of Jabber, the advantages over other instant messaging services and the setup in different clients.
Further developments of the Jabber server software Openfire are also being promoted in the network .
