Jack in the Box is an American fast food chain based in San Diego . It is one of the leading American fast food chains with more than 2000 restaurants in 17 mainly western US states .
Companies
The company was founded in 1951 by Robert Peterson. Jack in the Box was the first large hamburger chain to use the drive-thru (or drive-in) system. 85 percent of Jack in the Box customers buy their food either in the car or "to take away". However, most restaurants also have a dining room and are open 18 to 24 hours a day.
Most jack-in-the-box restaurants are freestanding, but there are also restaurants that are connected to gas stations or shopping centers. All restaurants, including breakfast, are offered the full range of dishes throughout their opening hours. That is why the company advertises with the slogan "We don't stop serving breakfast at 10.30 am. Heck, we don't even stop serving it at 10.30 pm!" - in German: “We don't stop serving breakfast at 10:30 in the morning. Hell, we don't even stop at 10:30 pm! ” .
Jack in the Box also advertises that their burgers are only grilled when you order them ( “We don't make it 'til you order it.” ). This sets the burger food chain apart from some other fast food chains, in which the burgers are grilled and then kept warm before they are ordered.
In January 2003, Jack in the Box Inc. acquired the Qdoba Mexican Grill restaurant chain that specializes in Mexican cuisine and has over 300 restaurants in 40 states.
The fictional jack-in-the-box boss known in America, who can often be seen in advertising and has a very large table tennis ball-like head, has had his own MySpace page with a completely fictional biography since May 2006 .
