The hunting lease in Germany is a mutual contract under the law of obligations within the meaning of the German Civil Code (§ 581). The regulations on rent (§§ 535ff.) Therefore apply to him in principle. The hunting lease is a special form of lease and is regulated in Section 11 of the Federal Hunting Act (BJagdG).

There is a maximum number of tenants stipulated by state law and a maximum legal lease area of ​​1000 hectares per tenant (exceptions, e.g. in Bavaria, the Alpine region / high mountains with foothills are: here the maximum lease area is 2000 ha). The leased area is entered in the hunting license . Several co-lessees with equal rights can divide the area internally into stalking areas.

Contract partner

Hunting leases are contracts between a hunting association or the owner of a private hunt on the one hand, and one or more tenants on the other. Hunting tenants can only be a natural person who is able to hunt , which means that they have had an annual hunting license for at least three years .
