James the Younger is a painting by the Spanish-Greek painter El Greco .

The portrait of Saint James was one of a series of paintings called "Apostolados" ("Apostles"). El Greco painted several portraits of the apostles and of Jesus Christ . All the pictures were in the same format and were intended to be shown in the same room. Six of the twelve images of the apostles hang on the right, Christ in the middle, the other six apostles on the left.

Only two series of Apostolados have survived, one of them in the sacristy of the cathedral in Toledo , the other in the Museo del Greco .
