Jan Freese

Jan Freese (* 1973 in Schönebeck / Elbe ) is a German set designer.

Life

Jan Freese studied art history at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1996 to 1998 he was assistant set designer at the Maxim Gorki Theater, among others with Momme Röhrbein and Christoph Schubiger. This is where my first own work was done. 1997 Set design for Mozart's DON GIOVANNI, directed by Katharina Thalbach. Then assistant to Prof. Johannes Schütz at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. Freelance work since 2000. Works at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Berliner Volksbühne, the Theater Meiningen, the Thalia Theater Halle, the United Theaters in Bozen, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, Staatsschauspiel Stuttgart, the Schauspiel Leipzig, the Theater Magdeburg, Theater Bonn and the Theaterhaus Jena. Cooperation with the directors Jan Jochymski, Regina Wenig, Christian Weise, Katja Wolff and Frieder Venus.
