Jardim 9 de April
The Jardim 9 de Abril (also: Jardim das Albertas or Jardim da Rocha de Conde de Óbidos ) is a park in the municipality of Estrela in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon .
It is located on the high right bank of the Tejo between the Palácio dos Condes de Óbidos and the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga . According to the olisipographer Norberto Araújo , the park was built between 1880 and 1882 at the same time as the Escadaria José António Marques staircase in front of it .
April 9th refers to the beginning of the Battle of Lys during the First World War on April 9th, 1918. The name Jardim das Albertas refers to the former Convento das Albertas , which stood roughly on the western side of the garden.
