Jardim 9 de April

The Jardim 9 de Abril (also: Jardim das Albertas or Jardim da Rocha de Conde de Óbidos ) is a park in the municipality of Estrela in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon .

It is located on the high right bank of the Tejo between the Palácio dos Condes de Óbidos and the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga . According to the olisipographer Norberto Araújo , the park was built between 1880 and 1882 at the same time as the Escadaria José António Marques staircase in front of it .

April 9th ​​refers to the beginning of the Battle of Lys during the First World War on April 9th, 1918. The name Jardim das Albertas refers to the former Convento das Albertas , which stood roughly on the western side of the garden.
