jasmine tea

Jasmine tea ( Chinese  茉莉花 茶 , pinyin mòlì huāchá ) is a tea flavored by mixing with jasmine flowers .

history

The origins of jasmine tea go back to the Chinese Song Dynasty (960–1279). Mixing with flowers was initially used to upgrade less high-quality teas. Today, jasmine tea is considered a particularly fine tea blend, which, however, is offered in numerous quality levels. In addition to the selection of flowers, quality factors are the number of mixtures, the so-called “weddings”, of fresh flowers with the green tea.

Manufacturing

A green tea or semi-fermented tea is used as the basis for its production . Depending on the manufacturing process, the aroma of the jasmine flowers is introduced into these by mixing with the flowers or steaming over a flower bath. With high-quality teas, the flowers are then sorted out again by hand.
