The Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems (JAUS) is an open software architecture in the domain of unmanned systems. It was developed from 1995 as Joint Architecture for Unmanned Ground Systems (JAUGS) on the initiative of the United States Department of Defense . Since 2004 the work of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has been continued in the technical committee AS-4.
