Jeż Jerzy

Jeż Jerzy is a Polish comic by Rafał Skarżycki and Tomasz Lew Leśniak.

The title hero is a hedgehog (pl .: Jeż ) named Jerzy (pronounced: Jeschi , pl. For George, Jörg or Jürgen). His back-worn baseball cap, a skateboard and the characteristic slang identify him as a skater or hip-hopper, although this is less emphasized in later issues.

In the satirical episodes, all social groups from neo-Nazis to environmentalists and politicians (e.g. Grzegorz Kołodko or the Polish right-wing populist Andrzej Lepper ) are targeted .

The neo-Nazis are represented by Zenek and Stefan. They are members of the so-called All-Polish Youth and the arch enemies of Jerzy. Thanks to his resourcefulness, Jerzy always gets away with them after initial difficulties.

The first episode of Jeż Jerzy was published in Ślizg magazine in 1996 , the first comic album was published in 2002. So far, eight albums have been released.

Awards

One of Jez Jerzy's episodes won the 1999 Grand Prize at the Łódź Comic Festival .
