Jean-Michel Byron

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jean-Michel Byron is a musician born and raised in South Africa as Byron DuPlessis .

After a career as a session musician, he started several projects with cover bands and began writing and recording his own songs. One of these recordings was made by drummer Bob Colomby , who introduced Byron Toto . Under pressure from the record company Sony (CBS) he was hired as a singer. He played four new songs with the band on their greatest hits album "Past To Present" (1990) as the successor to the retired front singer Joseph Williams . After the tour that followed, he was asked to leave the band because his character did not fit into the band and his live performances did not achieve the quality Toto wanted. After his engagement with Toto, he released his first solo album Byron in 1991 . He also played on albums by various artists, such as the first album by Ambition . Besides him, Thom Griffin (ex-singer of Trillion) and Tommy Denander also play on this album.
