Jean de Paris (book)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jean de Paris is a French folk book that was published in the Bibliothèque Bleue in Troyes , among others .

It was first published in Paris and Lyon between 1530 and 1540.

Jean de Paris's father had been called in by the Spanish king against his rebellious barons and he had been promised the hand of the king's daughter, even though she was only three years old at the time. Since the father died before the promise was kept, Jean de Paris took his father's place and went to the Spanish court in disguise, which led to many adventures and confusions that even the King of England was drawn into.
