Jesús Ponce

Jesús Ponce (* in Guadalajara , Jalisco ), also known as El Chuco , is a former Mexican soccer player who played in the position of the striker . During his active career he was exclusively under contract with Club Deportivo Guadalajara . Between 1970 and 1982 he worked several times as a coach for the same club.

El Chuco Ponce began playing football in the youth teams of Club Nacional de Guadalajara and later moved to Club Deportivo Guadalajara, for which he played throughout his professional career. He made his debut in the Mexican Primera División on November 13, 1947 in a game against Atlante .

For the first time el Chuco came in 1970 as head coach of Chivas Guadalajara, because the actual coach Javier de la Torre was appointed to support Raúl Cárdenas to the supervisory staff of the national team in order to optimally prepare the national players for the football World Cup in 1970, which was held for the first time in their own country .
