Jim Gillette (* 10. November 1967 in Los Angeles as James Gillette ) is an American singer, composer and producer. He was a front man of the glam metal bands Stut, Tuff and Nitro and published various videos regarding his vocal technique.

biography

In 1986, Gillette, coming from the music group Slut, joined the glam metal band Tuff, which he left again in the same year after he had recorded an EP with four songs with them to devote himself to his solo career and to record his first album Proud to Be Loud in 1987.

From the collaboration of the musicians Michael Angelo Batio , TJ Racer and Bobby Rock with Gillette on the recordings, the American glam metal band Nitro emerged in 1987, in which Gillette, next to Batio, took a prominent position due to his unusual singing . According to reports, Nitro was awarded a record deal with Rampage Records, a sub-label of Rhino Records , after a concert in which Gillette's voice cracked three wine glasses.

reception

Gillette was known because of his vocal acrobatics, as one of the most famous "high-pitch metal" singers, who was able to hold a high vocal tone over a longer period of time, to bring it into the pieces of music and thereby to shape them in a significant way.
