Jim McCarty

Jim McCarty (* 1947 ) is an American blues rock guitarist.

McCarty has been an integral part of the Detroit rock scene since the 1960s and is considered one of the classic heavy rock guitarists who have influenced the scene to this day.

He played with Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels and Buddy Miles and was best known for Cactus in the early 1970s . Other bands were later the Detroit rock band The Rockets , the Detroit Blues Band , and the band Mystery Train .

His song 69 Freedom Special received a Grammy for the cover version of Les Paul in 2006 .
