Johann Hayder (born October 17, 1884 ; † after 1955) was a German cooperative chairman.

Career

Hayder was a locksmith and shipbuilder by profession. On April 7, 1919, he founded the non-profit building cooperative Stadtamhof und Umgebung eGmbH in Reinhausen . As a board member of the cooperative, he was one of the pioneers of non-profit housing construction in Regensburg. During the time of National Socialism he was taken into protective custody from 1933 to 1934 because of his political views and was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp .

After the end of the Second World War , he repaired the building cooperative's neglected property. Against the background of the great housing shortage in the city, which was caused by a high number of refugees, he initiated the construction of new apartments from 1950. As a result of his initiative, a total of 450 apartments were built as part of social housing.

For years he was a member of the district council and the municipal council in Reinhausen.
