Johann von Cottbus was Lord of Cottbus from 1304 to 1319.

Life

Johann came from the family of the Lords of Cottbus. Its exact origin is unknown. In 1304 he was mentioned for the first time in a document when he and his cousin Fredehelm were enfeoffed with the dominion of Cottbus by the Margraves Waldemar , Otto IV. And Hermann von Brandenburg . In 1311 he was named as the sole lord of Cottbus, as Fredehelm had died, also in 1317. In 1319, he and Richard, Fredehelm's son, concluded an alliance with the citizens of Guben against expected attempts at conquest of neighboring states. After that he was no longer mentioned.
