description

The Johannes Church at Loburg Castle is a dark red brick building that stretches from west to east. The choir faces the west. Arched windows are stretched on both sides of the choir. In addition, there is also an incidence of light through the ceiling. A stained glass rosette is embedded in the masonry on the east side above the entrance. The approximately 400 m² church has a rectangular floor plan and is covered with a simple gable roof.

history

The church was built in 1958 according to the plans of the diocesan building council Alfons Boklage from Münster as the southern end of the Johanneum schoolyard. It is intended to give the students the opportunity to contemplate and pray. Originally, a 2 m high wooden cross was to be seen in the choir room, which today was attached to the gallery of the organ. The church was completely redesigned by Ulrich Hahn at the end of 1994. The incidence of light creates a meditative mood.
