Johannes Formschneider (* before 1420, † after 1470) was a gunsmith in the service of the imperial city of Nuremberg .

Life

Formschneider entered the service of the city of Nuremberg in 1440. Around 1460 he began to summarize his artillery knowledge in an illustrated manuscript, the material of which was probably complete in 1470 and which was copied for various users in the following years.
