The Johanneshütte around 1885

The Johanneshütte was an ironworks in the urban area of Siegen in the district of the same name in today's North Rhine-Westphalia .

In 1873 a union was founded. Two years later, the Johanneshütte opened on the southern slope of the Ziegenberg, which is west of the Siegen town center on the Siegberg . The smelter was equipped with two blast furnaces , in which around 150 employees produced approx. 70,000 tons of pig iron per year. From 1878 the hut was connected to the Siegen train station and from 1882 it was equipped with its own locomotive operation. In 1899 the ironworks came to the "Eisenindustrie zu Menden und Schwerte AG", in which Friedrich Flick became commercial director in 1913. In 1919 the Johanneshütte was closed because it had been unprofitable for years. The facility was demolished in 1924.
