The John Burroughs Association is a society founded in 1921 to commemorate the life and work of the American author and scientist John Burroughs . It is administered from the office of the American Museum of Natural History . The company owns, among other things, the John Burroughs Sanctuary near West Park in the city of Esopus , New York. The nature reserve includes the John Burroughs' hut, built from slate in 1895.

The John Burroughs Association is the publisher of The Wake Robin and bestowal of the John Burroughs Medal , an award given annually to authors who have distinguished themselves with a special work on science.
