John Rausek

John Rausek (* 1969 ) is a German composer. He lives and works as a freelance composer mainly in Berlin and Brandenburg.

Life

John Rausek started composing at the age of 10. From 1981 he attended the children's composer class of Hans Jürgen Wenzel and then studied at the Dresden University of Music with Wilfried Krätzschmar (composition) and Jörg Herchet (theory). In 1991/92 he studied chamber music at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest (with György Kurtág, among others ). Since his diploma in 1994 he has lived and worked as a freelance composer; first in Dresden, from 1998 in Brandenburg .

Works

After completing his studies, Rausek wrote primarily chamber music works, most of which were premiered at the annual intersonanzen festival of the Brandenburg Association of New Music eV in Potsdam.

For the family singing weeks of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia in Dahme / Mark, seven children's cantatas were created in cooperation with the Potsdam author Birgit Wahren.

Rausek composed (also in collaboration with Birgit Wahren) the youth opera Orpheus an der Elster , based on the opera L'Orfeo (1752) by Carl Heinrich Graun , for the Graun Brothers School of Music in the Elbe-Elster district ; the world premiere took place in 2014 on the occasion of the First Brandenburg State Exhibition in Doberlug-Kirchhain.

Daniela Danz wrote the text for Wünsche dare , a commission for the 20th anniversary of the Kronenchor Friedrichstadt, which premiered in Berlin in 2013.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Reformation, the full-length collage Free and Nobody Subject (text by Frederik Grau, Katrin Morchner and Birgit Wahren) was commissioned by the Berlin-Mitte church district ; premiered on January 21, 2017 in the Marienkirche in Berlin, directed by Karsten Morschett .

On behalf of the Elbe-Elster district (Brandenburg) and the Märkischer Kreis (North Rhine-Westphalia) on the occasion of their 25th anniversary of the partnership, Rausek most recently composed the concert for percussion quintet and orchestra Where we find us 2017 together with Lars Weber . This work was premiered by the ensemble "Die Weberknechte" and the "Märkische Jugendsinfonieorchester" (conductor: Thomas Grote) on a concert tour through the partner groups; u. a. in Bad Liebenwerda and Lüdenscheid.

John Rausek also composes orchestral works at regular intervals (1992: On s'aime das la Rue Monge for the Konfrontation ensemble , 2005: Gras-Sterne-Schatten for the Magdeburg Philharmonie, 2006: Land in Sicht for Sinfonietta Dresden , 2013: Short Texas Road Movie for the Junge Philharmonie Brandenburg ).
