Daniela Danz (born September 5, 1976 in Eisenach ) is a German writer .

Life

Danz studied art history and German language and literature in Tübingen (among others with Paul Hoffmann ), Prague , Berlin , Leipzig and Halle an der Saale, and did his doctorate on “Hospital Church Construction in the Weimar Republic ”. She holds teaching positions in Osnabrück and is currently teaching at the University of Hildesheim . From 2003 to 2010 she worked as an art inventory manager for the Evangelical Church. Today Danz lives as a freelance writer in Kranichfeld . She has been the director of the Schiller House in Rudolstadt since 2013 .

Danz's literary work includes poetry , prose , essay writing and children's literature . She also works with composers , some of her works have been set to music and translated into other languages. Her works deal with the classical canon of forms and ancient materials, such as Homer 's epics or Ovid's Metamorphoses . From here Danz tries out transitions to recent history, e.g. B. the Second World War , and on current socio-political issues such as migration . Florian Illies certified Danz a "feeling for the oppressive presence of history". In her latest novel, "Lange Fluchten" (Long Flights), Danz deals with a medieval subject, the legend of St. Eustachius .
