Georg Kaiser Award

The Georg-Kaiser-Förderpreis was awarded every three years between 1996 and 2014 by the state of Saxony-Anhalt , alternating with the Wilhelm Müller Prize and the Friedrich Nietzsche Prize, to a young author who has distinguished himself by at least one outstanding literary Publication and has a literary or biographical reference to the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The prize was endowed with an honorary certificate and a prize money of 5,000 euros. In 2014 the Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt decided to discontinue the Friedrich Nietzsche Prize , the Wilhelm Müller Prize and the Georg Kaiser Sponsorship Prize in favor of an annual Klopstock Prize for new literature .

The award is named after the writer Friedrich Carl Georg Kaiser (1878–1945), who was born in Magdeburg .
