Sascha Kokot (* 1982 in Osterburg ) is a German writer who has so far mainly emerged with poetry and is concerned with photography .

life and work

After an apprenticeship as a computer scientist in Hamburg and a longer stay in Australia , Kokot began studying at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig in 2006 . Together with Jasmin Herold, he founded the house search reading series there in order to present texts by students of the German Literature Institute in Leipzig in the German-speaking region.

Kokot's writing attracted attention in many competitions and received several scholarships. In 2008 his screenplay debris was awarded a prize in the screenplay competition Sichtssache of the Robert Bosch Foundation , the Goethe Institute and OSTPOL eV and was then filmed by graduates of the International College Kiev .
He took part with poems in the finals of various competitions with public readings, including the Leonce and Lena Prize (2011, 2013), the Wartholz literature competition (2011, 2012) and the open mike of the Berlin literature workshop (2013). He was praised at the Munich Poetry Prize 2011 and won 2nd place at the Feldkircher Poetry Prize 2012.

Most recently he received the Georg Kaiser Award (2014) from the State of Saxony-Anhalt .

Kokot published his poems in various anthologies and magazines , including a. Akzente , Besides , BELLA triste , Fiction , Dulzinea , Edit , erostepost , No delicacies , Kolik , Krautgarten , Ostragehege , poetry album , um [loud] . His texts have been translated into Armenian, Bulgarian, English, Italian, Russian and Ukrainian.
In spring 2013 his debut volume Rodung was published by edition AZUR .

In addition to his literary work, Kokot is also committed to promoting reading and literature in Saxony-Anhalt with the help of the Friedrich Bödecker Circle and organizes school readings and writing workshops for this purpose .

Kokot lives as a freelance author and photographer in Leipzig .
