Akzente is a literary magazine that was founded in 1953 by Walter Höllerer and Hans Bender . It has been published every two months since February 1954 by Carl Hanser Verlag , Munich, with the subtitle Zeitschrift für Dichtung, later Zeitschrift für Literatur . The focus is on poetry and short prose .

Walter Höllerer was co-editor until 1967. Hans Bender was the sole editor until 1975 and was later supported by Michael Krüger . Michael Krüger was the sole editor from 1981 to 2014. Some of the most important writers who made repeated contributions in the 1950s and 1960s include Thomas Mann , Elias Canetti , Erich Fried , Peter Weiss , Hilde Domin , Ernst Meister , Paul Celan and Nelly Sachs . Many of the Group 47 texts were first published in Akzente. Including some by Ingeborg Bachmann , Martin Walser , Hans Magnus Enzensberger , Uwe Johnson , Ilse Aichinger and Günter Grass .

In 1974 Akzente 1st year 1954 to 20th year 1973 was reissued in a seven-volume thin print edition (with a complete table of contents by Karl Rudolf Pigge ) at Two Thousand One .

From 2015 the magazine will appear four times a year in a larger format and with a new layout. Each issue has its own topic, for which Jo Lendle invites a co-editor.

The early editorial correspondence of the Akzente magazine forms the basic inventory of the Sulzbach-Rosenberg literary archive .

The inventory contains around 35,000 letters from and to Walter Höllerer and Hans Bender from the years 1952 to 1970 as well as typescripts, proofs and proof sheets of printed articles. Numerous domestic and foreign literary magazines, especially from the 1950s and 1960s, first editions, press kits and photos can also be found in the archive.
