Edit is a literary magazine founded in Leipzig in 1993 , which sees itself as a magazine for young, German-language prose , poetry , essay writing and criticism . The subtitle is called paper for new texts .
It appears three times a year (March, July, November) and publishes literary texts by both unknown and established authors as well as reviews and essays . Authors such as Sibylle Berg , Uwe Tellkamp , Clemens Meyer , Georg Klein , Albert Ostermaier , Jan Peter Bremer , Saša Stanišić , Franziska Gerstenberg , Thomas Lang , Tobias Hülswitt and Julia Franck published in Edit long before their breakthrough .
In addition to German-language literature, Edit also presents foreign-language literature in translation in each issue. The works of visual artists are presented in the picture section.
In 2002 Edit was awarded the Calw Hermann Hesse Prize for literary magazines.
The magazine has been offering a prize for literary essays since 2012 . Previous winners of the Edit Essay Prize were Simone Schröder (2012), Noemi Schneider (2013), Max Wallenhorst (2016) and Lilian Peter (2017).
The current editorial team consists of Kathrin Jira and Mathias Zeiske. Ann Richter and Pia Christmann from Studio Pandan are responsible for the design.
