André Schinkel

André Schinkel (born April 27, 1972 in Eilenburg ) is a German writer and archaeologist . He writes poetry as well as prose and essays .

Life

André Schinkel grew up in Bad Düben and Holzweißig (today part of Bitterfeld-Wolfen ). After training as a cattle breeder with a high school diploma and discontinued training as an environmental protection technician, André Schinkel studied German literature , art history and prehistoric archeology at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . During this time his first books appeared, for which he was honored with the Georg Kaiser Prize of the State of Saxony-Anhalt in 1998. He lives in Halle (Saale) and is currently working as an author, editor and editor. Since 2005 he has headed the editorial department of the literary magazine oda - Ort der Augen , since 2017 he has been an editorial member of Marginalien, a magazine for book art and bibliophilia . In addition, in the scientific field he is concerned with the approximation of literature and archeology as well as the special problems of the Neolithization of Central Europe.

In 2006 he received the Ringelnatz Foundation's sponsorship award , nominated by the main prize winner Wolf Biermann , and the Walter Bauer Prize in 2012. He was the town clerk in Halle, in the castle town of Ranis and in Jena. He repeatedly worked as a scholarship holder in various artist houses, took part in author meetings and poetry festivals in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Armenia and Italy. His texts have been translated into sixteen languages ​​and he is copying from Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, Bulgarian, Armenian, English and ancient Egyptian, among others. In 2016, Schinkel took over the publication of Edition Muschelkalk at the Weimar Wartburg Verlag .

He is a member of the German PEN Center and a founding member of the Academy of the Arts Saxony-Anhalt. In 2018 he was elected to the Saxon Academy of the Arts .
