is aNorwegian municipalityinFylke Møre og Romsdal. The administrative seat and at the same time the largest town in the municipality isSunndalsøra.
Sunndal is located at the southeastern end of the Sunndalsfjord , the southern continuation of which is the Sunndal . In the northeast of the municipality of Sunndal is the Trollheimen mountain landscape , in the southeast of the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park .
Sunndal is of touristic importance as a starting point for hikes in Trollheimen. In Sunndalsøra, Riksvei 62 branches off from Riksvei 70 , which connects Oppdal and Kristiansund , towards Molde . Economically significant is the large aluminum plant of Norsk Hydro in Sunndalsøra with its approximately 900 employees.
