John Wright (boxer)
John Alan Wright (born May 19, 1929 in London , † July 12, 2001 in Blandford ) was a British boxer. He won the Olympic silver medal in the middleweight division in 1948.
John Wright was English middleweight champion in 1948 and took part in the 14th Olympic Games in London in the same year , where he was in the preliminary round Hermann Schneider from Switzerland, in the second round Hector Garcia from Argentina, in the quarterfinals Jan Schubart from the Netherlands and defeated Michael McKeon of Ireland in the semifinals. In the final he was defeated by the Hungarian László Papp .
