Jorge Cabral

Dom Jorge Cabral (* around 1500 in Portugal ; † in the 16th century) was the 11th Portuguese Governor General of the Estado da India or of Portuguese India from 1549 to 1550.

He was Governor General for only a short time; so he ruled from July 1549 to November 1550 and then returned to Portugal. Nothing is known about his further fate.

Many Indians converted to Catholicism during his tenure. He also destroyed the cities of Tiracol and Capoçale and sacked the city of Panane .
