Jorker Late

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jorker Späte is a black variety of sweet cherries belonging to the heart cherries .

origin

Jorker Späte is an old local variety from the Altes Land , where it used to be very widespread. In the meantime, as with many old varieties, the population is getting smaller and smaller and it was even considered lost at times.

fruit

The fruit is small. The very firm, almost leather-like skin is shiny black when fully ripe. The medium-firm pulp is dark red with strongly coloring juice. The taste is bitter, but becomes aromatically sweet through processing. It has a high burst resistance and ripens in the 7th cherry week . Due to its properties, the variety is mainly used for processing into jam , kirsch and the like.
