José Aílton da Silva (born September 8, 1977 in Cajueiro), better known as Aílton , is a former Brazilian - Mexican football player . The left-footed offensive midfielder is 1.70 meters tall.

Career

In 1997 he first played for Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras . In 1998 he moved to Paulista FC and in 1999 to the Venezuelan Deportivo Italia . With the club he was Venezuelan champion, but joined the Mexican club Atlas Guadalajara in the same year . In 2001 he was awarded for the first time to the Mexican second division club León . After the loan period he moved to AS Bari in Italy. After only one year, he moved back to Mexico to the UNAM Pumas . He played here for four years, became Mexican champions with the club in 2004 and won the Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu that same year . In 2006 Aílton left the club and joined the San Luis Club . Here he completed 16 games with two goals in one season before he left the club in 2007. Since then, he has not been able to get beyond short-term employment lasting more than a year.

After his last loan was over, Aílton was left without a club in January 2010. In January 2011 he was signed by the lower class Brazilian club Clube Atlético Joseense. There he ended his career.
